Here goes nothing….

It’s been a very long time since I’ve written anything but I will try from now on to put order in my life.. no really I am trying.. :) so I would like to write in this blog every day, we will see what happens. I have a lot of things I would like to put up have here but some really stupid things which have been bugging me for a long time will have to go first. What is it with British turists in Amsterdam?? It’s like these guys don’t own any jackets, parka’s whatever. It’s incredible there are like 4 degrees Celsius outside and these guys walk around in t-shirts. ALL OF THEM. IS it that cold in England compared to here? I truly have no idea. One of these days I will walk up to one of these blokes and ask because it’s driving me nuts. Speaking about the Brits I just saw another movie from Shane Meadows( previously only seen This is England) called Dead Man’s Shoes and I can say I quite enjoyed it though some English to English subtitles could have helped. I actually had a really hard time understanding those guys. In no connection with what is previously written I discovered a while ago Radio 4 – (94.3 FM) here in The Netherlands and I instantly fell in love. They play only top notch classical music which I enjoy very much. I am not a connoisseur but not a complete beginner neither when it comes to classical music partly because of my family upbringing and my father’s profession as an Orchestra Conductor and music teacher and also personal preference. Due to personal reasons I had to give up a night at the Concertgebouw (Concert hall) in Amsterdam which was promising to be very rewarding for the 7.50 euro I would have payed. It was part of a Master Pianists Series they have in Amsterdam and Alexei Volodin was going to play among others Chopin’s Impromptu Op. No. 66 which is one of my favourite classical pieces of all time. Well there is always a next time said the optimist Vlad… And thinking about optimism I have to say it really is not in my character, I would prefer to see myself as a realist while others certainly would say I am a pessimist. In any of these 2 cases still I feel that in case something goes wrong at least I didn’t have my hopes up like an optimist would have had so I don’t get screwed over as badly as them. As I was writing these lines I casually glanced to my left and saw the most useful thing man ever invented and to reasons only known to God I had just bought it a couple of days ago… No it isn’t a wheel, it’s not the flushable toilet( although kudos to mister Thomas Crapper for popularizing it) it is the Scotch Tape. What would we have done without it? It undoubtedly is the most versatile invention out there… I could probably write a book “1000 ways to use Scotch Tape” but you don’t need me telling that you probably know your selfs. On a more academic level I think that choosing this faculty of Economics and Business has brought me more headaches than anything else in my puny miserable life .. probably it wasn’t a very good idea to choose something that I tried to avoid all my school years.. and that is fixed calculus. Hopefully I wil be able to pass into 2nd year when I will choose Business Studies which is the most appealing part of all this ordeal. Until then a constant fear that I will be a failure and get kicked out of the program is upon me. Moving on to Dutch Weather, this mysterious part of Dutch life which does not cease to amaze me. December 2007 it rained… a lot… I was expecting that weather phenomenon that happens around this time called SNOW. That was not the case. I was told by my fellow students(the dutch ones of course) that it does not really snow in Amsterdam… and hadn’t done so for quite some years. But hang in there cause the best part is to come. Middle of March 2008 it starts snowing… OMG yes real big fluffy Snow flakes. It was unreal, and very emo-ish of me I actually left the bloody faculty study room and even my jacket, and went outside and sat there while it snowed all over me. It really felt great. After 5 days of snowing I was about fed up with it because there was no snow actually accumulating because of the ground temperature. Anyways it was a welcome change. I think this is it for tonight. Buh Bye guys
