Mai stii
Mihai Margineanu – Mai stii
Mai stii…cum te strigam pe atunci
Icoana cu picioare lungi
Veneai pe rau sau rau erai
Curgeai in mine pana-n rai
Cu limba preschimbata-n bici
Vanai pe coapse iepuri mici
Aveai un zambet cam mieriu
Erai mireasma, eram viu.
I fell in love with this song ever since I heard it the first time. Sorry for not translating the lyrics but they loose some of their meaningfulness through translation. The lyrics are by a Romanian poet Mircea Dinescu and Mihai Margineanu has done an outstanding job of singing this beautiful poem. This style of song is not common for M. Margineanu but it seems to me he is truly an artist if he can convey this much emotion in a song that is not common to him. The song always brings memories from home, a bitter sweet taste in the back of my mouth which lingers on and my eyes begin to get blurred by tears. I had a lot of trouble trying to understand this weird nature I have of being so strongly ambivalent, being able to feel so strongly in a relationship and love so easily, being able to reach a state of almost tears when hearing a song or watching a sad movie and on the other side having absolutely no problems with physical pain, enduring almost everything possible, and having a weird tendency to everything that is “manly” : guns, fishing, hunting, army, knives, survival, cars, etc. Probably my subconscious is trying to balance me out, I don’t know…
I failed one more exam and now I am looking at a grim fate.. If I don’t pass 3 exams this block I will be unable to get into second year. I could not fit in this faculty and had troubles trying to learn… hopefully I will make it this time..
This one is for a very special friend..
